Unleashing the potential of legal migration through a whole-of-society approach

The second edition of the Summer Training School, entitled: “Unleashing the potential of legal migration through a whole-of-society approach”, was successfully concluded.

Organised as one of the forefront activities of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on the Integration of Migrants in Europe (IntoME), the School happened in hybrid mode from 27th June to 1st July at DISTU Dept. of Tuscia University, in Viterbo (Italy).

It welcomed 44 attendees, among international students and PhD candidates, including both students enrolled in the Security and Human Rights master’s degree, and students from European (Belgium, Denmark, Spain) and non-European (Armenia, Brazil, Gambia, Georgia, India, Iran, Nigeria, Tunisia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Yemen) countries, selected through open competition.

The School conducted face-to-face seminars, held by prominent scholars from prestigious Universities in Europe and Italy, alternated with training sessions, which allowed participants to experiment advanced brainstorming and negotiation techniques and inclusive decision-making interaction methods, based on the principles of co-creation.

Among the professors of the School: Prof. Sophie Robin-Olivier (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne), prof. Maurizio Ambrosini (University of Milan), prof. Stefan Schlegel (University of Bern), Dr. Zvezda Vankova (University of Lund), Dr. Giulio Di Blasi (European Commission), Dr. Jean-Pierre Gauci (British Institute of International and Comparative Law), Dr. Daniele Albanese (Italian Caritas), prof. Marco Borraccetti (University of Bologna), Dr. Meltem Ineli Ciger (Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi) and prof. Jean-Pierre Cassarino (College of Europe).

The issues addressed concerned the potentialities and obstacles to legal migration from a largely interdisciplinary perspective, highlighting the contribution of the University of Tuscia to the field. “In this sense, the School contributes to the construction of a complex of skills and knowledge at the service of the University’s overall ability to promote development and social inclusion processes” – declared Prof. Mario Savino and Daniela Vitiello, the School coordinators.

The real feather in the School is a cohesive and competent team of trainers, selected from the best young promises of the Academy of Law and Migration (ADiM) and the DISTU Doctoral Course in “European Markets Law”. The School coordinators thanks them for having contributed decisively to this great success: Raul Belúcio, Giulia Del Turco, Cristina Milano, Angelo Salerno, Vira Savaryn, Michela Tuozzo, Mariateresa Veltri.
